Dear Macomb County Neighbor:
In the event we’ve never had the pleasure to personally meet, I’d like to ask for a minute of your time to introduce myself. I am your Macomb County neighbor, Peter J. Lucido.
I currently serve as a Michigan State Representative, where I’ve worked very hard to address the concerns of the constituents in my district. I would like to help even more people, all of the people in Macomb County, actually. I am running for the 8th District seat in the Michigan State Senate in the 2018 election. The seat will become vacant when our outstanding State Senator Jack Brandenburg leaves office due to term limits.
I was born and raised in Macomb County. I grew up as one of eight children, in St. Clair Shores, where my father was the “Green Grocer,” delivering fruits and vegetables door-to-door across the county. He later co-founded Lucido’s Insurance Agency, which still provides peace of mind and sound judgment to families in the county. When I was old enough for my first job, I walked down the street from my home and got a job at Dairy Queen on Harper Avenue. I never stopped working after that. As I grew up, through years of education – college, graduate school and law school – I kept my home in Macomb County. When it was time to open my own law practice, there was no question about where it would be – Macomb County. To this day, after more than 50 years, I still reside in Macomb County. I am “home grown in Macomb.”
In 2014, the citizens of Shelby, Washington, and Bruce Townships, along with the Village of Romeo, gave me the privilege of serving in the Michigan State House of Representatives. I was deeply touched by this honor and humbled by the responsibility. I am proud to say that the people reelected me to a second term in 2016. I firmly believe that I was elected and reelected based on my hard work – first as a small business person and during my first term in office – to put “families first” and offer common sense ideas that better the lives of the citizens and families of Macomb County.
For over 30 years, I forged relationships with leaders in Michigan, including State Senator Jack Brandenburg and former U.S. Representative and current Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller. They continue to work very effectively for the people of Macomb County. I was pleased to support both Candice Miller and Paul Mitchell, now your U.S. Congressman, in their successful campaigns.
I have and will continue to work with each of these individuals for the betterment of Macomb County. I was flattered when, through the course of our conversations, they encouraged me to run for the seat that will be vacated by Senator Brandenburg. After a great deal of thought and discussion with my family, I have decided to run for the Michigan Senate.
I am truly grateful for the outpouring of support from my family, friends, and elected officials that have encouraged me to run. I am deeply honored that I have their support in the upcoming election.
As one of the most conservative and effective legislators in the Michigan House of Representatives, I will continue to bring common sense solutions to Michigan’s problems. In doing so, I will always place “families first” which will improve the lives of the residents and their families in Macomb County.
